August 2017 Dividend Income

And so the month of August 2017 is coming to a close. Is it just me or did the past two months of summer go by really fast? Heck, it feels like this entire year has just sped by so quickly. Anyway, I might as well post my monthly dividend earnings as I will not be receiving anymore this month. Coming out of my β€œoff” month is certainly pleasing. This month turned out much better. This month I received $707.27 in dividends from 3 companies.

AT&T (T) – $135.24
Sprague Resources (SRLP) – $349.31
Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) – $222.72

August 2017 Dividend Income Total: $707.27

This month’s dividend income conveys a 1.7 % increase from last quarter when those same 3 companies paid me $695.17 in dividend income. The dividend income I received this months shows a 3.5 % increase since the beginning of the year from those same 3 companies. I had stopped purchasing stocks for the first 6 months of the year. Thus this growth is just from companies increasing their dividends.

I did not keep track of monthly dividends last year, so I cannot give an accurate year by year comparison. One thing I could say is that it must be higher as those companies have raised their dividends since last year. I recently purchased General Mills (GIS) but I did so two days after the ex-dividend date, so I missed out on their dividend this quarter. I am looking forward to collecting dividends from GIS the next quarter.

So yeah. It was a very good month. The dividend income I received this will be used to buy more quality dividend stocks from great companies as I continue to diversify and expand my portfolio. I will continue to build my dividend dynasty. So how did your month go? Let me know in the comments below!

    Hello MDD,
Excellent total! I think I’ve got a couple of dividend payers to still chime in this month, so I don’t know my exact total yet, but it won’t reach your level. The $$$ you collected this month will certainly go a long way towards your next purchase. Looking forward to see how you deploy the money. Maybe an Industrial or Materials stock to help diversify the portfolio by sector? I know this is something you mentioned on your Portfolio page. I share OHI as a holding in my portfolio… happy to collect from them this month, too.

Nice month MDD. Very health dividends, and great that the companies increased the payouts. I had my portfolio’s first dividend in August, which just happened to be from an in-specie distribution via a demerger. Actually it was a little messy, but I’ll put up with it.

That’s a proper good month! It’s great that the dividends continue to grow even when you stop contributing to the market.

It was a very good month indeed. That’s a tidy sum for August and from only three payers? Are you looking to spread out those payments among more companies going forward? Like the GIS pick up. It’s one of my Sept. considerations. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks Div Hut! Yes, I am looking to add more stocks to my portfolio and diversify across more sectors going forward. I am letting my dividends and the money I am saving add up for my next purchase. I thinking late September, but definitely October for a purchase or two. πŸ™‚

August was a record month for me thankfully and I’m excited for the rest of the year and for September because I think I can hit another record…we will see. Take care,

I love this MDD. 3 companies paying you a fat dividend check. The 1.7% quarterly increase truly represents the power of dividend re-investing and how DRIP can have such a major impact over the years. Incredible stuff.

That is outstanding for only collecting from 3 companies. Sucks you missed the ex-dividend date on GIS but that doesn’t matter too much as long as you got it for a good price. Just think long term. Looking forward to seeing how your numbers look after a quarter ending month!
