Hello Everyone! New to the Wonderful World of Dividends

Greetings everyone! My name is Robert and I am relatively new to the dividend investing. I started back in late 2014-early 2015. For most of my life I was ignorant when it came to personal finance. This was especially true when it came to investing in the stock market and dividends. Through a series of life altering events (mostly negative) I am here today, working to build a better future. Working to create a Dividend Dynasty! You can read more about my story on my About page.

Coincidentally, I am writing about my financial journey in building a Dividend Dynasty on the very same month I am living on my own for the first time. Thus, learning and experiencing first-hand the art of budgeting ones income versus expenses. With a good paying job and living below my means, I believe I am on good foundations to budget accordingly and have enough left over to invest in quality dividend paying stocks.

So this will be a very interesting journey indeed. I am quite excited to see where this will lead me and what the future holds. I don’t typically invest every single month, but only as often as I accumulate money to invest and an opportunity arises. One thing that does consistently happen every single month is that the dividends roll in. My money is working for me 24 hours 7 days a week all year long creating more wealth without me lifting a finger. Passive income is fantastic!

Love your blog name. You have a very powerful story of your turn to dividend investing and I am very interested in following your progress in the coming years.

Can you do a post on whether or not you are chasing yield? 5.91% yield for a portfolio is very high in the dividend investing blogosphere but you have some good names. Any thoughts on whether your future returns will be subpar compared to investing more towards a dividend growth investing mindset?

Thank you for your comment! When I first got started in dividend investing in 2015 I was going after high-yielding dividend stocks. Part of that phase of my investing life can still be seen in my portfolio today. Since then I have shifted gears over the course of the last 18 months towards more of a dividend growth investing mindset (which, I believe my future returns will grow to reflect over time). Focusing more on quality companies that have a long history of paying out increasing dividends.
