Recent Buy – General Mills (GIS)

Cool! Two days into starting My Dividend Dynasty and I am posting my first purchase in 5 months. I halted stock purchases for a time period due to the need to find a cooperative apartment to purchase and until I had a better understanding of what my expenses would finally be. Yesterday, I made a purchase of General Mills (GIS) as the stock approached its 52-week low. I purchased 57 shares of GIS at $53.45. This purchase was made solely with past accumulated dividends.

It’s funny. When I went food shopping on Sunday buying my favorite cereal and I wasn’t thinking that the next day I would become an actual owner of the company behind that cereal brand. But it was an opportunity that I took. My breakfast tastes even better now. This purchase adds $111.72 in annual dividend income in to my account. My portfolio now stands to generate $7,935.10 in annual dividends over the next 12 months. Slowly but surely, I am closing in on the $8000 mark in yearly dividends.

Well congrats first on starting the Dynasty. It has to start somewhere and GIS is a great company to start with. They have been beaten down this year and now have a juicy yield. As you pointed out, the company and their brands are EVERYWHERE in a grocery store. Love the wallop you are now adding to your dividend income. Congrats on the big purchase!

I like this buy. Picked up a few shares myself a week or so ago to lower my cost basis a little bit. Of course now it drops even lower haha. Great growth and nice yield though. You bought at a good price.

    Dynasty,

GIS is actually one of the companies on my watch list. I’m looking to add 5 more stocks to my portfolio and may include this great company. I think you made a great buy.

    MDD,

I’ve been following GIS for awhile. I just haven’t been able to pull the trigger for some reason. Nice pickup though.

Thanks DS. GIS was on my radar for a while. I just had to wait a bit for an opportunity to present itself.
