Hi Mr. Robot! Awesome job cutting down your electric costs! Knocking out the wasteful standby energy, getting more energy efficient appliances, and replacing old light bulbs with LED’s are simple yet effective ways of lowering your electric bill. Nicely done!

Own of the first items on my blog shows what I did to cut down on our costs. I’ve used a kWatt meter (Voltcraft) to look up the actual usage of each device in our house. Then I removed all the waste from the socket. NExt I made it my mission to replace old lights with LED’s. After that I replaced existing equipment with more energy efficient ones. I also adjusted our lighting schedule (I use domotica to control various lights throughout the house).

End results was a saving €208,31 in that year alone, we got our electricity bill down from 158,- to 133,- per month. I just received our new end bill and we are going to get another 31,- back from our utility provider. And since we recently completed our LED-project I am guessing that this new year we will save even more.

Hi Bert. I hear what you are saying. Next to the lights, pulling the plug is the most forgettable thing on the list. Occasionally, I will forget to take the plug out of the microwave after making my dinner (though I have been getting better at it lol). Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
