January 2021 Dividend Income

Time to post my January 2021 dividend income. This month seemed to go by pretty quickly, but nevertheless, it was a pretty good month on the financial front lines. Earlier this month I made my first new stock purchases of 2021 and crossed the $11K mark in forward dividend income. In addition, I had a record month in dividend income for a quarter-starting month. It is always nice to open a new year with record numbers. I also posted the results of last years dividend numbers and goals. But without further ado, here is my dividend income. For January 2021, I received $719.83 in dividend income from eleven (11) companies!

  • Medical Properties Trust (MPW) – $243.00
  • Starwood Property Trust (STWD) – $171.36
  • Realty Income Corp (O) – $44.09
  • GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) – $62.00
  • Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) – $17.10
  • Cardinal Health Inc. (CAH) – $21.87
  • Leggett and Platt Inc. (LEG) – $32.80
  • Eastman Chemical Co. (EMN) – $29.67
  • Genuine Parts Co. (GCP) – $27.65
  • PPL Corp. (PPL) – $51.88
  • PepsiCo. (PEP) – $18.41

January 2021 Dividend Income Total: $719.83

And that is a record quarter starting month! This month shows a 20.8% year over year increase from January 2020. Double digit growth is a great way to begin a new year. In addition, 11 companies paid me this month which is a record for a quarter starting month. I did not get the CSCO payout this month since I purchased stock on the ex-dividend date. Now on to the dividend increases.

  • ED increased dividend to $0.775 per share resulting in a $2.32 increase.
  • INTC increased dividend to $0.3475 per share resulting in a $2.80 increase.

All in all, this month’s dividend increases totaled $5.12 added to my forward income.

This was actually the smallest amount of dividend increases I had received in 4 years for a January month. Lots of my usual dividend increasing companies kept their dividends frozen, but hopefully will see things start to warm up comes the Spring season. Nevertheless, I am happy to receive any dividend increase no matter how small. Those small amounts add up to large sums over time.

And thus, concludes my January 2021 dividend income. February should be an interesting month. According to my records going back 4 years, February is usually my best month for dividend increases. We shall see. As of this post, my portfolio is set to generate $11,060 in dividend income over the next 12 months.

So, how did you do this month? Did you start off the year strong? Also, did you received any dividend increases this month? Let me know in the comments below!
