August 2018 Dividend Income

Boom!!! And here we have a new record for a mid-quarter month! This is very exciting. And at the same time, am I the only one who feels this summer went by exceptionally fast? I found myself asking what happened to July? Anyway, August turned out to be a fairly quiet yet great month. The temperature outside was hot and humid, but the snowball keeps growing larger and larger. This month I received $891.76 in dividend income from six (6) companies.

AT&T (T) – $169.00

Sprague Resources (SRLP) – $383.81

Omega Healthcare Investors (OHI) – $229.68

Procter & Gamble Company (PG) – $17.93

Realty Income Corp (O) – $41.36

General Mills (GIS) – $49.98

August 2018 Dividend Income Total: $891.76

And that is a new record! Never before have I had such a high number of dividends come in for a mid-quarter month. Compared with this month last year, this August 2018 shows a 26.08% year over year increase in dividend income. I love double-digit increases! I have also noticed that it is my mid-quarter months that have shown the largest year-over-year increases. Most of my stock purchases over the past 6 months have been in companies that pay out dividends mid-quarter. The happy result is the year over year increase you see above.

The mid-quarter months are actually catching up to the quarter ending months which are my best months. As I head towards the $1K a month milestone, I now wonder which month will reach the mark first. Then there are the dividend increases! There was one surprise dividend increase this month. ARCC increased their dividend from $0.38 per share to $0.39 per share. This brought my forward yearly dividends from ARCC to $1,485.12 giving me a $38.08 increase to my forward annual dividends.

And with that, my portfolio now stands to generate $9,084.50 in dividend income over the next 12 months. This is all very exciting. I am really looking forward to September which should be another record-breaking month. So how was your month? Break any records? Do we share any of the same companies?
