The year is racing to its end and it is time for me to post my October 2019 dividend income! October is my “off” month. On an “off” month I received the lowest amount of dividend income from the least amount of companies. However, this is a record-breaking “off” month! Never before did an “off” month produce such a high dividend income. I have crossed the $500 mark in dividend income for the first time ever on a quarter starting month. I am quite happy about this. But without further ado, this month I received $574.44 in dividend income from seven (7) companies!

Medical Properties Trust (MPW) – $234.00
Starwood Property Trust (STWD) – $171.36
Realty Income Corp (O) – $42.68
GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) – $55.90
Illinois Tool Works Inc. (ITW) – $16.05
Cardinal Health Inc. (CAH) – $21.65
Leggett and Platt Inc. (LEG) – $32.80

October 2019 Dividend Income Total: $574.44

And a new record is achieved! The month of October 2019 shows a 33.8% year over year increase when compared to October 2018. How did that happen? Mostly, it is because of the summer re-balancing of my portfolio that this month is higher. Consequently, that re-balancing shifted much of the mid-quarter months dividend income to the beginning and ending quarter months. Thus, November’s dividend income will be much lower than the previous year. This is also the first time I received a dividend payment from LEG.

Then there are the dividend increases! There were two this past month. First, OHI unfroze its dividend and increased it to $0.67 per share. This raised my forward annual dividend from $660.00 to $670.00 for a $10 increase from OHI. It is nice to see OHI increase their dividend again. Next, VFC increased their dividend to $0.48 per share. This raised my forward yearly dividend from $115.24.00 to $128.64 for a $13.40 increase from VFC. Altogether, these increases added $23.40 to my dividend income.

I stopped going trick or treating on Halloween many years ago. However, it is no trick that I got plenty of treats to close out October. Those treats came in the form of record dividend payments! My portfolio now stands to generate $9,629 in dividend income over the next 12 months. Still on course to cross the $10K milestone. So, how did you all do this October? Any record breakers? Thanks Passive Cash! Right now, I am looking at ending the year with collecting $9400+ in dividend income. It could change if there are more dividend increases (or a surprise decrease), but I am looking at the $9400 range. 🙂

Congrats on crossing $500 and you got pretty damn close to $600 too. I wasn’t expecting a raise from OHI, but if they’ll give it I’ll take it. October was our best start to a quarter with nearly $400 for our FI Portfolio. Across all of our accounts we pulled in just a hair under $480.

Great month for you. I had my best starting quarter month at over 600 post will be up next week. That ABBV raise was sweet. Nice first dividend from Leg.

Hi MDD,

Seems you had a solid month! I got paid around 52 EUR this month, so nothing special. As a European, most companies tend to pay annually so I already received most of my dividends. As long as the snowball keeps rolling it is al good!

Nice, MDD! Glad to hear you are raising the bar in the 1st months of the quarter. Love seeing that 30%+ YoY growth, even if a fraction of it was due to some reshuffling within your portfolio.
Keep marching toward that $10K mark for forward dividend income. It shouldn’t be too long now, right?
I’m excited to say I got to share in your two dividend raises. The unfreeze by OHI was a welcome surprise, no doubt.

Don’t remind me about how the year is racing to its end. I can’t believe we’re knocking on 2020 soon. Oh well… that fact just reminds me to stay invested for the long haul as time waits for no one. Invest, stay invested and use time (compounding) to your benefit. Congrats on crossing the $500 mark. That’s a nice milestone for sure. LEG and MPW are two names I wouldn’t mind adding to my portfolio one day. Keep up the good work.
