Recent Buy (O) and Recent Sell (STOR)

I made a minor tweak to my portfolio based on recent events. With that, here is my recent buy (O) and recent sell (STOR).

For those who may not know, STOR has been bought out and will be taken private.

The result is that the dividend from STOR will be eliminated. It sucks to lose such a good dividend payer with a nearly 5% yield.

But sometimes that is where the ball bounces.

This left me with a bit of a choice. With the loss of STOR’s dividend, I would lose $240.24 in forward yearly dividend income.

I needed to find a stock with a comparable dividend yield. Luckily, that did not take very long.

Recent Buy and Recent Sell

I sold all my shares of STOR which amounted to 156 shares total. That left me with an automatic loss of $240.24 in dividend income.

Next, I bought 80 shares of Realty Income Corp (O) with the cash from the STOR sale. Therefore, with this purchase I added $238.08 in dividend income.

All in all, I now own 268 shares of O which means a grand total of $797.57 in yearly dividend income from O.

When you minus the dividends lost from the dividends gained during this transaction, I have a net loss of $2.16 in dividend income.

Conclusion

Thus concludes my recent buy (O) and recent sell (STOR).

I pretty much broke even when selling all my shares of STOR. Of course, all the dividends I ever received have pushed me into the green.

Overall, a minor tweak to my portfolio with some miniscule loss in dividend income.

My portfolio is now set to generate $13,027 in forward dividend income over the next 12 months. That is passive income that I earn while I sleep!

I will continue to work towards my goals and build my dividend dynasty!
