I Got a Raise and Promotion!

An interesting start to the new year for sure! I am happy to report I got a raise and promotion at work!

After 6 years I was promoted. I would have gotten it earlier had the pandemic not intervened and slowed things down, but that was beyond my control.

Basically, my job remains the same. I just have a new “higher-up” title.

Nevertheless, I am well aware I am still just a cog in a machine that can be let go by my employer at any time.

I have no illusions there. The truth is when you climb up someone else’s corporate ladder you can be kicked off at any time.

My job is just a job. I have a life and identity outside my job.

More Money, More Savings, and More investing!

The title is of much lesser importance to me than the pay raise.

The pay raise was $6,000 which is basically $500 a month before taxes.

Sadly, here in the People’s Republic of New York, after taxes that comes to roughly $330 per month in extra income.

Nevertheless, I was already saving over 50% of my monthly income before the pay raise.

Any additional income is like adding gravy on top! All this means is more money I can save.

Therefore, more money I can invest is assets such as dividend growth stocks!

I planning on keeping my spending that same as prior to my raise, which means no lifestyle creep is looming!

Conclusion

And there you have it! I got a raise and promotion!

This will help speed up the journey to financial freedom!

They say my new title gives me a more “permanent” position within the office (I don’t buy it).

Ironically, since I am investing all the extra money, I am actually speeding up the process of leaving my 9-5 job! Hahaha.

Over the years, I’ve built a six-figure portfolio that generates a yearly average of over $1,100 per month in dividend income!

That is passive income that I earn while I sleep!
