Don’t Let Politics Ruin Your Happiness

With an election only a few weeks away, as always, emotions and anger run high (as opposed to reason and calmness). But I am here to tell you: don’t let politics ruin your happiness!

You have one life to live and to spend more time being angry at things you really have no control over is not only pointless, but beyond stupidity.

Your anger won’t change the system, your anger won’t make life better, and your anger is only taking up time you could spend being happy.

In fact, you anger fuels the corrupt political system and politicians feed off that anger to get themselves elected and cash in.

The news media loves it when you yell at your television screen in a blind rage. That means they have you hooked right where they want you.

In stead of ranting and raving about that politician or that party, how about enjoying your limited time doing things you like?

Enjoy your hobby, hang out with friends, play some video games, go to the beach or for a hike, and/or have fun with your family.

When Politics Ruins Your Happiness

Story time guys. And this is a true story of something very sad I witnessed.

It was a couple of years ago. It was my lunch break and I went out for a bite to eat.

I was sitting down eating and saw this man (I guess he was in his 40’s) walking in helping his elderly father who was in a wheel chair.

His father was pretty sick and his son seemed to care about him deeply as he wheeled his dad to the table.

However, as soon as the son sat down to eat, he started ranting about a certain politician and political party.

The son was getting angrier and angrier as he ranted. He was repeating probably every talking point from his favorite news network like a brainwashed zombie.

He did that the entire time he was there having lunch with his dad (who was silent the whole time).

I remember thinking: dude…. You are having lunch with your sick elderly dad, how about enjoying a lunch with your father instead of miserably ranting about your stupid politics.

It was one of the most pathetic miserable things I had ever seen.

Instead of enjoying lunch with your dad while you are lucky enough to still have him, you are miserably ranting about political nonsense which you have no control over.

Maybe it’s just me.

I don’t have a dad to have lunch with. I was lucky enough to have had a grandfather for 29 years of my life, but a lunch with a father is something I will never experience.

To me, that guy should have been counting his blessings, not sitting there fuming miserably about politics.

Conclusion

You probably know or have met someone like that. Someone whose entire world is consumed by politics. Their entire identity is their politics (which itself is pretty sad and pathetic).

One other thing you probably noticed is that those types of people are always miserable, angry, and never really happy. How can you live your life like that?

Don’t let politics ruin your happiness.

You got one life and only limited time. Enjoy your life as much as you can.
